Knitted Christmas Ornaments- Free Pattern Included

Basic Knitted Christmas Bauble Pattern (in the round)

Easy christmas ornaments

Materials:

Worsted or DK weight yarn in 2 colors (main color + contrast)
Double-pointed needles (DPNs) or circular needles (3.5–4 mm)
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker
Polyester stuffing or wool roving



Abbreviations:

K: knit
KFB: knit front and back (increase)
K2tog: knit two together (decrease)
St(s): stitch(es)
MC: main color
CC: contrast color


Gauge:


Not critical. Just knit tightly enough that stuffing doesn’t show.

 Instructions:


Cast On & Increases
With MC, cast on 6 sts and distribute evenly over 3 DPNs. Join in the round. Place stitch marker.
1. R1: KFB around (12 sts)
2. R2: Knit
3. R3: K1, KFB around (18 sts)
4. R4: Knit
5. R5: K2, KFB around (24 sts)
6. R6: Knit
7. R7: K3, KFB around (30 sts)
8. R8: Knit
9. R9: K4, KFB around (36 sts)
10. R10: Knit

Insert Colorwork Chart
Work your desired stranded colorwork pattern for 12–15 rounds. You can chart simple:
hearts
reindeer
trees
snowflakes
Keep the stitch count at 36 sts. Use MC and CC as needed.

Begin Decreases
1. R1: K4, K2tog around (30 sts)
2. R2: Knit
3. R3: K3, K2tog around (24 sts)
4. R4: Knit
5. R5: K2, K2tog around (18 sts)
6. R6: Knit
7. R7: K1, K2tog around (12 sts)
8. R8: K2tog around (6 sts)

Stuff the bauble firmly.

Finish

Cut yarn, leaving a tail.
Thread through remaining 6 sts and pull tight.
Weave in ends.
Use yarn or ribbon to create a loop for hanging

Materials:

Red DK or worsted weight yarn

White fluffy yarn (eyelash, boucle, or soft acrylic) or white DK yarn

3.5 mm (US 4) knitting needles

Tapestry needle

Small amount of polyester fiberfill or yarn scraps for the pom-pom

Optional: small crochet hook for chain loop


Finished Size:

Approx. 3.5 in (9 cm) tall and 2.5 in (6.5 cm) wide at the base


Abbreviations:

K – knit

P – purl

K2tog – knit two together

St(s) – stitch(es)

RS/WS – right side / wrong side


Hat Body (Knit Flat):

With red yarn, cast on 24 sts

Work in stockinette stitch (K one row, P one row) for 4 rows


Begin decreasing:

Row 5 (RS): K2, K2tog, K2 across (18 sts)

Row 6: Purl

Row 7: K1, K2tog, K1 across (12 sts)

Row 8: Purl

Row 9: K2tog across (6 sts)

Row 10: Purl

Row 11: K2tog across (3 sts)

Cut yarn, thread through remaining 3 sts, and pull tight.


Brim:

With white yarn, pick up and knit across the bottom edge of the hat (approx. 24 sts).

Knit 2 rows in garter stitch (knit every row).

Bind off loosely.


Finishing:

Fold hat in half, sew up the back seam using mattress stitch.

Make a small pom-pom (or use a ready-made one) and sew it to the tip of the hat.

Use white yarn or ribbon to make a hanging loop. Sew it inside the tip or crochet a short chain and attach it.


Tips:

Mix and match red yarns for a variegated set.

Use sparkly or metallic white yarn for an extra festive look.

Add a tiny bell or bead to the tip for sound and sparkle.

Christmas Crafts: Wooden Ornaments


During Christmas, we all love to spend some quality time with our children, help them decorate for Christmas and teach them how to be creative. This project is a very simple yet very original project for the holidays. Your kids could hang those decorated sticks on their tree.


Supplies

Wooden Ice cream Sticks
Paint
Googly eyes
Fabrics for the scarves
Construction paper for the hats
Small Styropan balls for the nose.
Pipe Cleaners
Glue
Scissors
Hole puncher
Ribbons


Directions

Follow the samples on the picture, and get creative. You can draw the lines on the stick, color using the paint, then add some details using the pipe cleaners, fabrics, construction paper and googly eyes. 
Make a hole and insert a ribbon.
Your craft is now ready to be hang on the Christmas tree.
